The Research Is Clear:

70-90% of your health outcomes are determined by your lifestyle choices.

Heart attacks, strokes, dementia, and many other life-altering conditions are not inevitable consequences of aging, but rather the life you live every day. Luck and genetics have little to do with it.

The reality is that you have far more control than you might think.

The most common causes of premature death or debility are almost entirely preventable through simple lifestyle changes. All you need is a little motivation, the right information, and a framework that works for you.

That is exactly what The Incredible Brain provides.

Your Complete Longevity Framework

A Message From Ryan Williamson, MD:

In my career as a neurologist, I have witnessed far too many lives cut short or severely hindered by preventable conditions. Rather than waiting until things go wrong, I am now taking a proactive stance to empower people like you with the knowledge and strategies to live a longer, healthier, more impactful life.

The Incredible Brain is the culmination of that knowledge. Inside, you’ll find a simple, four-pronged approach that can help anyone, regardless of age, income, or current health status, take control of their health and build a longevity framework that works for them.

What You’ll Discover

The Incredible Brain takes a comprehensive look at brain health, physical health, and overall longevity. Relying solely on evidence-based information and interventions, it is everything you need (and nothing you don’t) to adopt a healthier lifestyle—whatever that means for you.

Here Is A Sneak Peek At What You’ll Learn:

  • The four most common ways lives are cut short and why they’re almost entirely preventable
  • How to reduce stress and brain fatigue from busy schedules, long workdays, and staring at screens
  • How to reduce your risk of dying from any cause by up to 40% with one simple intervention that costs nothing and takes less than 6 minutes a day
  • Why the cards are stacked against you, making healthy choices difficult—and how to stack them in your favor
  • Sleep optimization techniques that can cut your dementia risk by nearly 40% and transform your daily energy levels
  • The two critical cellular pathways that determine how fast you age—and how to manipulate them through what you eat and when you eat it
  • Simple lifestyle changes that can enhance new connections in your brain, reverse age-related memory loss, and improve cognitive performance
  • How to optimize your nutrition for brain health, longevity, weight loss, and improved energy levels without counting calories
  • The 12 hallmarks of aging and specific interventions to slow each one, backed by peer-reviewed research
  • The key evidence-backed supplements that have been shown to extend lifespan and improve daily performance
  • Why certain stressors like cold exposure and saunas activate longevity pathways in your body, and how to make use of them
  • The biggest threats to your brain health and how to protect yourself from them through simple interventions
  • How to implement sustainable habits that are enjoyable and work with your schedule, preferences, and goals

TESTIMONIALS

What Readers Are Saying
Einstein said "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.” The future of healthcare is turning towards prevention to preserve health rather than attempting to fix problems later in their course. Dr Williamson has taken a very important topic BRAIN HEALTH and made this very complex goal simple enough for the reader to start this important process.

Benjamin Franklin said, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." When it comes to health, few people and their insurance companies are willing to pay for that prevention (with either money or effort), which is unfortunate, because it is often dramatically cheaper than treating the subsequent diseases, if they can be treated at all. Thus we have a "disease care system" rather than a "health care system." We all want a long life with compressed morbidity.

That is to say, we want to be healthy for our entire lives until the very end. Nobody wants ten years of dementia before they pass. Nobody wants to be disabled for decades. Real health care, i.e. prevention, doesn't just give you more years, it makes the years you have better. Following Dr. Williamson's advice in this book will teach you how to delay and even completely avoid many health conditions you never want to have. Prevention is often simple, but rarely easy. Use this guide to help make it as easy as possible.

“It is more important to know the patient that has the disease than it is to know the disease the patient has” - Sir William Osler

When I graduated from medical school in 1975, I felt like the focus at that time was disease-based medicine. There was much more emphasis on making the right diagnosis than there was on preventive approaches to treating patients. The “interesting patient” was the “enlarged liver” in room 1, the thyroid nodule in Room 6, or the “Fever of unknown origin” in Room 12. Perhaps that’s why I chose to be a family physician because I enjoyed getting to know patients and having a relationship with them over time.

In the last 25 years there has been a revolution in medical education in medical schools with earlier exposure to simulated or actual clinical patients, more integration of basic and clinical science concepts throughout the curriculum, and more focus on “patient centered care”, emphasizing patient autonomy, collaboration, and respect for individual preferences. The Florida State University College of Medicine, founded in 2000, was the first new medical school created in the US since the late 1970’s. It was founded to address a looming physician shortage, most acute in rural and underserved areas, and met resistance from organized medicine (AMA and AAMC) that felt that we had enough doctors. FSU‘s vision was validated by the year 2007, when there was a call for a significant increase in medical graduates and led to a boom in creating over 30 new medical schools since that time. FSU further defied the conventional wisdom by training their graduates in community physician offices and hospitals, with the hope to encourage the graduates to practice in those communities in the future outside of the traditional specialty dominated acute care focused academic medical center.

Dr. Ryan Williamson is a 2014 graduate of the FSU College of Medicine and learned the lessons of patient focused care both at FSU and in his superb career as a neurologist in the US Navy. Caring for military service members, their families, and military retirees, he recognized that his many encounters with patients at critical end points in their lives left him asking what else could be done to live longer, healthier, and better lives. While helping patients when they were critically sick was his calling, he knew that this disease-based model was not enough. In his book, The Incredible Brain, he asks the reader to go beyond traditional medicine to find their purpose, take an active role in their health, and live better, healthier lives. He encourages all to develop an intentional lifestyle that is focused on optimizing sleep, nutrition, mental wellness, and physical movement. Our disease focused system does not encourage individuals to take control of their lives, harness the full power of their brain and body, and avoid the fate of those who succumb to chronic disease.

This book can serve as a handbook on how to optimize health, whether you are in your thirties or facing retirement. It provides an education on the “how” your brain and body work, and then provides practical interventions to slow the rate of aging. Each chapter is written to stand alone, providing first education that analyzes the importance of the topic for wellness, then provides “key takeaways” and a “cheat sheet” to help move the reader to better behaviors on the road to better health. I am very proud to endorse Dr. Williamson’s book as a fundamental guide to prevention and self-care for all.
